What are deep pockets?

A top UK retailer has contacted me to say that that if we specify the dimensions a pocket should be to be classified as a ‘deep pocket', they will confirm for each product whether it meets this criteria. Isn't that exciting? To actually know the pockets will be decent! With that in mind, I need your help. How big does a pocket need to be to be classified deep for you? Does it depend what item of clothing it is? I want to get this right.

For dresses, what is the minimum storage to be a deep pocket?
For coats, what is the minimum storage to be a deep pocket?
For trousers, what is the minimum storage to be a deep pocket?
